On the Shelves: The Forsaken by Lisa M. Stasse

Hey everyone! I've decided to make a new "meme," sort of. Every week or every other week, I will feature a book or two that came out/are coming out that week. I will try to always post On the Shelves on Wednesdays for right now, but there may be a few stray posts.

The goal with these posts is to showcase books that have come out, but aren't always at the front of the headlines, if you know what I mean. There will be times, however, that books everyone is talking about will be featured, but I'll try not to do that too often.

Let me know how you like these posts!

Yesterday Lisa M. Stasse's debut YA novel, The Forsaken, went on shelves! Here's a little bit about it:

The Forsaken (The Forsaken, #1) by Lisa M. Stasse
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
384 pages (hardcover)
Add It: Goodreads
Buy It: The Book Depository | Amazon | Barnes & Noble
A thought-provoking and exciting start to a riveting new dystopian trilogy.

As an obedient orphan of the U.N.A. (the super-country that was once Mexico, the U.S., and Canada), Alenna learned at an early age to blend in and be quiet—having your parents taken by the police will do that to a girl. But Alenna can’t help but stand out when she fails a test that all sixteen-year-olds have to take: The test says she has a high capacity for brutal violence, and so she is sent to The Wheel, an island where all would-be criminals end up.

The life expectancy of prisoners on The Wheel is just two years, but with dirty, violent, and chaotic conditions, the time seems a lot longer as Alenna is forced to deal with civil wars for land ownership and machines that snatch kids out of their makeshift homes. Desperate, she and the other prisoners concoct a potentially fatal plan to flee the island. Survival may seem impossible, but Alenna is determined to achieve it anyway.

Now check out this awesome trailer for the book!

I have to say, I don't usually like too many book trailers, but this one is super intriguing. I'll be looking out for this one when we go out of town this weekend!

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! I love reading what you have to say, whether good or bad. (This is not an open invitation to be rude.)

This blog is an award-free zone. I simply don't have the time to pass them on. Thanks for thinking of me, though :).
