A Happy Camper! :)

As the title infers, I'm a very happy camper today. I received the Stylish Blogger Award from my friend Chloe @ YA Booklover Blog. Thank you SO much, Chloe! I really appreciate you thinking about me! :D

Seven Things About Me:

I) The first thing I do when I wake up is either read, get on the computer, or listen to my radio.
II) I have three blogs that I contribute to. This one, For the L♥ve of Reading, and UnRead Brains Eat Bloody Words.
III) I recently got back in the groove of reading more when I discovered GoodReads.com last year.
IV) I am on my school's dance team (six numbers), the Chess Club, the Leadership Committee (I'm the student rep), and Student Council. Very busy :)
V) I love looking at others' blogs to see what I might "steal" and use on my blog. LOL.
VI) My favorite genres are Paranormal, Paranormal Romance (YA), Young Adult in general, and Historical Fiction.
VII) In correspondence to VI, I love learning about the past. World War 2 has always been an interesting topic that I read about. Books like Milkweed and Diary of Anne Frank just make my day :).

Finished This Week:

• Evermore (Immortals, #1) by Alyson Noel (Kindle Edition). Finished on 1/1/2011. Loved this book! Good thing I already ahve the second one. I will be reading Blue Moon really soon!
• Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli. Finished on 5/1/2011. This was the best Historical Fiction novel I've read in a while. Definitely recommend it if you like books that are set around World War II.

Currently Reading:

• Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. On page 139. This is SUCH a good book. Glad that I finally got the chance to read it. Hopefully I will be able to find the movie and watch it :).
• Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports by James Patterson. On page 261. On Part 4 in this one. It's better than the previous two and I'm sure the next one will be even better! Lots more drama :)
• Tyger Tyger by Kersten Hamilton. On page 45. Haven't read in about a week and a half, but should be farther next week.
• Remember Me (series omnibus) by Christopher Pike. On page 652. Was able to read a little of the book this morning. Really hoping I have it done by February. Wish me luck!!

This week's question comes from Ivan over @ Ivan Bookworm:

"What book influenced or changed your life? How did it influence/ change you?"

My answer:

The one that I think of first is Who Moved My Cheese? for Teens by Spencer Johnson. It's about four mice who find this place with a bunch of cheese. They eat like kings, but then it runs out and they have to find food. Two of the mice stay behind and wait for more cheese to appear, while the other two go out hunting for more food. Eventually, one of the mice that stayed realizes that he should just move on and stop waiting. This book was telling you that you need to be able to adjust to change without letting it bother you too much. Go with the flow, don't get mad because your BFF is moving. Ever since I read this book, I have been really trying to control my reactions to change. One of my new year's resolutions.

I think this was an amazing novel. It takes place before Graceling because Leck is a boy. Fire is an outstanding creature, who can control the minds of others. She is like a Graceling but diffrent in many ways. There are parts that make you want to scream and parts that make you want to cry, but that just adds to the depth of the book. My favorite characters, other than Fire, are Archer and Hanna. Cashore is a beautiful writer and this novel shows that. I could not put it down. I liked this better than Graceling for some reasons but they are very diffrent, so you can't really compare them. I will be reading this in the near future. It is something you have to read! I would rate it 5 wings.

For Christmas my parents got me the Step Up 3D Soundtrack, and I'm loving it! I haven't been able to see the movie yet, but I've seen the first and second, so I think it will be really awesome! :) Anyway, the CD is something that you could definitely have a party off of, even if you're by yourself, LOL.

Movie

My family and I recently watched our DVD copy of The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I really loved it! It was more comedy than anything. My brother, of course, just added to the comedy even more. It was one of those, 'You had to be there' moments, LOL. I would definitely say that you need to watch this, especially if you are stressed out a lot. :)

Anyways, I am giving this movie a solid 5 Wings!

• Tyger Tyger by Kersten Hamilton. On page 42. I got this one from NetGalley, and I'm really liking it so far. Teagan is a really cool charrie. Thinking she's going to be my favorite :).
• Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli. On page 28. My brother's teacher, who has noticed my love of reading, let me borrow this one because she thinks I will enjoy it. I am excited to read it, as it looks interesting :).
• Evermore by Alyson Noel (Kindle Edition). Have read 20%. Will be continuing in this one soon. Got a chance to read a few pages in WalMart :).
• Remember Me (series omnibus) by Christopher Pike. On page 633. Really have to get around to reading this one. Lately it's been teasing me because it knows it'll take another month 'fore I finish it :/.

2011 Reading Challenges

She has a super-long list of categories that you can read books for to mark off of your bucket list. I'm thinking that you read one book for whichever topic you want to read, but she didn't specify.

Her schedule is to read one book per month, all the way through July. I thought this would be a great way to recap on one of my favorite series! I will probably starting in February, instead of January.

Britney and Farrah from I Eat Words and Shannon from Stalking the Bookshelves are co-hosting the YA Series Challenge in 2011. You don't have to read the entire series, but as long as they are a part of a series, they count! I know this one will really help me.

My goal is accomplish the 4th and highest level -- "Fully Committed 13-16 Books." I read a LOT of series books so I think this one should be fairly easy.

30 + Change #4 (Nov & Dec 2010)

30 + Change will allow me to share with my followers what I buy every month on my Kindle. The goal of this monthly meme, is to not go too far over your budget, but we still have room for taxes and such, hence "+ change."

I never posted for November, and it's time to post December, so... This post will wrap-up 2 months!:

November - I bought almost no books..

1.) Saw 5 [movie]. Cost: $6.97. The SAW horror series is my absolute favorite pasttime, besides the Final Destination series :D.

2.) A Game for my Brother. Cost: $19.96. This is where most of my money went.. I felt like being nice that day.

3.) Radiance (Riley Bloom, #1) by Alyson Noel. Cost: $0.59. (The actual cost of the book was $5.59, but I paid back $5 in cash, so the amount of Kindle money I spent was only $0.59.) I had been interested in this novel for a while, and decided to try it out. Loved this book! I am glad that I got it. Rated it four wings. Review for Radiance.

Total Cost: $27.52

December - I didn't spend on other people this time :).

1.) Evermore (Immortals, #1) by Alyson Noel. Cost: $.99. I have been wanting to read this series for long. It was a somewhat miracle when I finally got the opportunity to buy it.

2.) Blue Moon (Immortals, #2) by Alyson Noel. Cost: $.99. The sequel to Evermore.

3.) Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl. Cost: $8.49. Elyssa recommended this to me long ago, and, finally, I had the chance to get it! This one actually came from WalMart, not the Kindle Store :).

4.) Oh My Goth by Gena Showalter. Cost: $8.99. Needed a book that started with "O" for a challenge on GoodReads; someone suggested this one. In the next five minutes, I had bought the book!

Total Cost: $30.46
