#BoutofBooks 8.0 GOALS!

Bout of Books
I think I missed out on this readathon the last couple times it was in session, so I'm glad I put a reminder in my phone!!!

As always, it's hosted by Amanda & Kelly, at their respective blogs. I will be updating every two days, so be sure to check back and see how my reading is going! In addition to new posts, I will update the bottom of this post everyday since it's the one I linked to in the sign-up post on the Bout of Books blog.

Time Devoted to Reading*
~I will be dedicating myself to everyday of the readathon except Monday and Thursday, since those are dance days and I probably wouldn't get anything read anyway. However, if I do end up reading, I'll let y'all know :).

My Goals
~I want to finish four books this week! To be specific:
Fifty Shades Darker by EL James
Taking Chances by Molly McAdams
Thugs and the Women Who Love Them by Wahida Clark
Alexandria by John Kaden

Review: Blaze by Laurie Boyle Crompton

Blaze (or Love in the Time of Supervillians) by Laurie Boyle Crompton
309 pages, ePub eBook (via Overdrive Media Console)
Finished on 24/7/2013
Genres: Young Adult, Romance, Realistic Fiction
Goodreads page

Motivation to Read It: Thanks to the wonderful participants of #YAStands twitter chars, the first time I joined in I got 15 recommendations, including this one. (Sadly, it's the only one I've gotten around to reading.)

Review: Can I say BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR!? I believe I just did. And I meant it, too. I don't remember exactly who it was that recommended this to me that night, but thank you for expanding my life reading bubble! I owe you quite the hug!

Well, if you can't tell already, Blaze has most definitely left a mark on my memory. She was a wonderful heroine, what with her comic-drawing superpower. But even more than that she was a charrie that constantly believed in people and strived after what she wanted.

The comic theme was the best part of the book, which is why the entire book was so enjoyable! I don't know how Ms. Crompton came up with the idea for this novel, but I'm very glad she did! I think this has made itself onto the list of books that anyone can enjoy. Especially the comic junkies ;).

Book Reviews: Mash Up #5

Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger
388 pages, Kindle Edition
Finished on 20/7/2013
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance, Action
Goodreads page

Motivation to Read It: So this is actually my second time finishing this book. I listened to it at the end of 2011, but that was in the middle of the blog's drought, so you, my lovely readers, never got a review I read it this time for a challenge and so I can continue the series.

Review: I had forgotten how funny this book was! It had me laughing, probably, even when things weren't supposed to be funny lol.

Alexia was quite the character. I'm really glad that she was the main character because that meant we spent lots of time with her; and let me tell you, it was a pure joy! Lord Maccon was my other favorite charrie because he was one of the few people that could battle against Alexia's professional-like wit. They were definitely a perfect match of people :).

As far as the plot goes, it was pretty good. Nothing extremely wonderful actually happened but it was paced nicely, and for the characters it was written for, the plot fit well and kept them on their toes. Of course, we must remember that this is my second time reading Soulless, so I kind of already knew what was going to happen.

This is a wonderful start to a promising series. I have Changeless on audiobook, so my next goal is to get to it ASAP!

Real Mermaids Don't Wear Toe Rings (Real Mermaids, #1) by Helene Boudreau
208 pages, Kindle Edition
Finished on 21/7/2013
Genres: Young Adult, Romance, Paranormal, Adventure
Goodreads page

Motivation to Read It: I saw this book a couple years ago on Goodreads, and because of a challenge group I'm in, I finally had a reason to hunt down a copy.

Review: I really enjoyed this book! I think the main reason for that is because the subject was mermaids, which I don't read a lot of.

I enjoyed the parts of the plot where Jade was a mermaid most I think. It was surreal for both me and Jade. We pretty much got to go through the experience together, which definitely helped to make me feel closer connected to her.

Overall, this was a wonderful novel! I'm interested in the second novel for sure :D.

Announcements
I won't make an essay out of this, but just for the record--
If I don't post reviews, etc., at all for the rest of the semester besides blog tour stuff, I am very sorry. I've got quite the schedule this semester, so it will be trying times. However, that doesn't mean I've already given up. I'll try my best to stay on top of things, but just in case I don't, you know what happened.
